The name Engoni comes from Greek—her grandmother’s heritage—and means “granddaughter.” We chose it as a tribute to Akahanna, who had the sweetest nature of any cat we’ve ever known. From the very beginning, Engoni showed the same gentle spirit, and today she carries her grandmother’s temperament, intelligence, and beauty. Even better, her first litter reflected that same soulful personality we loved so much.

The contrast between males and females in Maine Coons can be dramatic, and everyone loves the big, imposing males. Because of that, showing a female can be a challenge—especially a dilute color like a blue tortie. Despite those hurdles, Engoni earned her Supreme Grand Champion title by 12 months of age, along with Best Blue Tortie Internationally, 2nd Best Maine Coon, and 14th Best Longhair in her region. She adores traveling and the adventures that come with showing, so she continued competing the following year.

The 2019–2020 show season brought everything we hoped for. Engoni ranked 14th Best Maine Coon Internationally, and in her region she earned Best Maine Coon, 11th Best Allbreed (earning her a second Regional Win), and 5th Best Longhair. Her final show was in Corpus Christi, where two of her kittens—a red boy and a blue girl (yes, there’s a theme!)—joined her for their very first show. Upon completing her show career she is now living in her forever home as the princess she deserves to be!
